Finance Leader Development Programme

You'll be encouraged and supported to reach your full potential. You'll have the opportunity to learn more about BAE Systems and its operations. You'll have the opportunity to receive world-class training and support. But perhaps most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in it's projects - gaining the insights that can only come from real world experience.

Graduate Development Framework

First things first: Your career starts with an induction to welcome you to the business. Here you will meet fellow graduates and find out more about what your future holds. Shortly after joining, you will be assigned a mentor who can act as a source of advice and insight, should you seek it. You'll also participate in 'Graduate Developing You', which brings together graduates from across different business areas for a series of personal effectiveness modules, delivered by BAE's award-winning learning and development partner, Impact International.

At the end of your first year you'll attend the company's annual Graduate Conference, where graduates from across the globe gather in an event comprising speeches from senior BAE Systems people, a selection of educational and interactive workshops, and an exhibition that showcases some of the most interesting work the company is engaged in.

Sigma Leadership Programme

From the outset, you'll be invited to the Business or Engineering Sigma Steering Groups which provides a forum for Sigmas to discuss their development plans for the scheme with senior leaders within the business and to seek advice regarding future roles. In addition, you will be assigned your own personal buddy - a current Sigma - who'll support you in your transition onto the scheme. Your manager will also collaborate with you on a personal development plan, which will set out your professional goals for the first year and how to achieve them.

Over the long term, you'll also have both a corporate and functional mentor to guide your development and leadership skills. Additionally, there's financial and practical support to gain further relevant qualifications and accreditations within either business or engineering. Engineers are expected to gain chartered engineer status; the Sigma programme is accredited by a number of relevant institutions, representing a major, long-term investment in real leadership potential.

What does the future hold?

The BAE Graduate Development Framework provides four placements over two years, providing valuable networking opportunities and enabling you to gain further qualifications through professional institutions.

The five-year Sigma leadership scheme - which includes an international placement - equips you with the skills to hold management positions and lead business and engineering projects depending on the path you wish to take.
