What to expect

Graduates

    If you are on target for a 2:1 or higher and have undertaken a 4 year course, ideally including a year's work experience in a manufacturing, engineering or commercial environment, then the Cummins' graduate programme is definitely for you.

Placements

    This 12 month programme, starting annually in September is specifically designed for students taking a sandwich course. If you're really outstanding, then there could be a bursary on offer and the chance to join the graduate scheme.

All Graduates spend their first week with Cummins in the On Boarding programme where the company culture and ethics are fully explained, along with all the benefits and opportunities they will have going forward.

Graduates and Placement students will quickly be involved in project work, given responsibilities and receive ongoing training.

Students are regularly involved in initiatives that support local and national charities, organising fund raising events and community projects.

Training

Cummins is a hire to develop company, encouraging its Graduates to achieve chartered or professional status. From the outset you will be provided with a structured training plan consisting of corporate training programmes, product awareness and any technical requirements. Cummins offers generous training grants and continue to provide career development opportunities for all employees - it is an essential part of the company's strategy to develop the skills base within its organisation.

Progression

Having graduated with a 1st Class Honours from Manchester Business School I had clear goals and very high expectations upon joining Cummins. Although my choice was originally dictated by location, it couldn't have worked out better. Within 4 years I was a Financial Controller and now only 2 years later I'm Global Financial Controller, Alternators.

Since the day I started, Cummins have been fully supportive of every element of my training - financing my professional studies through to fully qualified ACCA status and continuing to provide career development opportunities that are second to none. Personally I don't think I could have found the challenges or chances that Cummins provide anywhere else

However, what really impressed me - and still does - is how the company sticks to their core values, especially in terms of diversity, doing the right thing for employees and customers alike, as well as doing what they say and delivering on their promises. That's probably why I'm now a diversity facilitator, providing training on a business wide basis.
