What to expect

Graduates can apply to one of the following areas - Financial Management, Supply Chain Management, Customer Management (Sales), HR Management, Business & Technology Management, Research & Development and Marketing. Graduates can also apply to Unilever's China Returnee Programme. Whichever area you join, you'll make a big business impact.

The two to three year programme involves placements across the UK & Ireland business with responsibility from day one, alongside excellent training in leadership and business. You'll learn business fast. You'll be supported in achieving Chartered status and qualifications such as CIMA, IMechE, IchemE, IEE, APICS, ICS, and CIPD. This programme will prepare you for your first management role.

Summer Placement Programme

    Unilever runs a 12 week summer placement programme for students who have completed their penultimate year of their qualification by the start of their placement and will return to complete their studies at the end of the placement. Summer placement students are taken in Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Customer Management (Sales), Human Resources Management, Business & Technology Management, Research & Development and Marketing. Students who successfully pass the summer placement programme will have the opportunity to be fast-tracked to the 'Selection Day' stage for the Future Leaders Programme.

Industrial Placement programme

    The industrial placement programme allows students to get experience in one of the company's business areas over 12 months. Students must have completed their penultimate year of their qualification by the start of their placement and will return to complete their studies at the end of the placement. Industrial placement students are taken in Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Customer Management (Sales), Marketing and Business & Technology Management. The top performing students on the industrial placement programme will be offered a place on the Future Leaders Programme.

Spring Programme

    The Spring Programme is a great way to get a taste of life with Unilever. Over three days in April you can learn about the different areas of the business, meeting senior leaders, attending social events and developing skills like analytical thinking and working with others. The Programme includes a fast-track selection board for the summer and industrial placement opportunities for the following year, so you have the chance to finish your academic year with a placement role already secured. Opportunities are available for first year students (or second year students of a four year qualification) in Supply Chain Management, Customer Management (Sales), Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Business and Technology Management and Marketing

Training

Training and development is an integral part of life at Unilever. There are many ways in which you will develop your skills, both professional and personal. As a trainee you will follow a learning roadmap that outlines the training you will receive over the two to three years of the programme. This encompasses a mix of general skills and leadership know-how, and skills programmes delivered through e-learning and instructor-led training sessions. On top of this you will have additional training related to your specific business area. You will also receive full support for studying CIMA, IMechE, IChemE, IEE, APICS, ICS and CIPD in the relevant business areas.
